Imagination is often the most limited resource in cloud computing archictecture and platform application. I ran across this Azure based application called Micosoft Townhall. I love this idea. I have no idea of it the application is written well, but I love the idea. You can expect more of this from Microsoft and and Partners.

 Wordpress plugin for Media hosted in Azure

Microsoft has announced a WordPress plug in that lets you use Azure for media storage. http://blogs.msdn.com/interoperability/archive/2010/05/21/taking-advantage-of-windows-azure-storage-from-php-example-with-a-wordpress-plug-in.aspx.  While using cloud storage isn't in and of itself exactly earth shattering, this is noteworthy as it shows two things: 1) Microsoft continues to RAPIDLY improve it's cross platform capability. There have been a very big commitment from Microsoft in getting PHP applications to run easily and reliably on IIS 7 for example. Installing Wordpress on IIS 7 is drop dead simple using the Web Platform Installer tool (see iis.net for details). 2) Demonstrates how Azure can be used in a variety of situations including as platform form hosting media as well as a app platform. In short, Azure can fit a lot of needs. That's what you want and need from cloud service and Azure delivers.
